COMSOC-2008: Travel and Accommodation

TRAVEL

The nearest major airport is at Manchester, 35 miles away. There are regular train connections between Manchester airport and the main station in Liverpool, Liverpool Lime Street station. It is best to allow 1 - 2 hours for this journey, and you may need to change trains in Manchester.

Liverpool also has a smaller airport, Liverpool John Lennon Airport, mostly used by budget airlines, such as Easyjet and Ryanair. To the city centre from this airport is usually about 20-30 minutes by bus or taxi.

Regarding train travel to Liverpool: There are hourly, high-speed trains during the day from Euston station in London to Liverpool Lime Street (the main Liverpool station), a service run by Virgin Trains. This journey normally takes just short of 3 hours.

HOTELS

There are a number of hotels within walking distance from the workshop venue. Since 2008 is a busy year for Liverpool as European Capital of Culture, nearby accommodation may be hard to find. We recommend that you make your hotel reservation well in advance of the event.

The times against each hotel below indicate typical walking time from the hotel to or from the workshop venue.

In addition, here is an online directory of hotels in Liverpool.
